Louisville authorities identified the man who passed away eight days after being struck by a vehicle in a city hit-and-run occurrence. According to the Louisville Metro Police Department, officers were dispatched following a report around 10:20 p.m. on Thursday, October 2nd, concerning an individual who had been hit by an automobile at the intersection of West Broadway and South 28th Street.
When emergency responders arrived at the scene, they found a man suffering from injuries that were initially thought to be non-life-threatening. Medical personnel transported the injured individual to University of Louisville Hospital for treatment. News reports indicate the unknown vehicle involved in the incident fled the area heading east on Broadway, causing local traffic authorities to close the street for approximately one hour.
The victim’s condition unfortunately deteriorated, and he later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital on Friday, October 10th. On Sunday, October 19th, the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office officially identified the deceased as 64-year-old Claude Dailey, a resident of Louisville. The official cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma resulting from the collision.
