Hartford Police are examining the death of Cynthia Jiminez-Pacheco and Joel Martinez, who were pronounced dead following a shooting early Sunday morning. The incident occurred in the 500 block of Franklin Avenue around 5:10 a.m., police officials reported after receiving a citizen reported incident alert.
An investigation revealed Martinez and Jiminez-Pacheco suffered gunshot injuries near a building’s rear stairwell. Martinez was pronounced dead at the location, while Jiminez-Pacheco was transported to Hartford Hospital where she later died from her injuries, authorities said.
Police indicate the two men were known to each other, though the existence of a domestic relationship is under review. The ongoing inquiry is being handled by the Major Crimes and Crime Scene Divisions and is currently open to public tips.
