Roosevelt Walker, identified as a 46-year-old North Augusta man, died Saturday following a fatal motorcycle accident, reports indicate.
The incident transpired on Edgefield Road, situated near Belvedere-Clearwater Road, around 8:30 p.m. on the preceding evening, October 18.
According to Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables, Mr. Walker was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle northbound at an elevated speed. He lost command of his vehicle during a pursuit from law enforcement and was thrown from the bike.
Emergency Medical Services personnel were initially dispatched by officers from the North Augusta Department of Public Safety. Medical assistance was administered until the arrival of additional rescue services.
The injured individual was then transported by ambulance to a medical facility in Augusta, known as Wellstar MCG Health. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries at 11:03 p.m.
The authorities officially confirmed Mr. Walker’s identity and his place of residence in North Augusta, South Carolina. An autopsy examination is planned for the coming week in Newberry.
Both the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Aiken County Coroner’s Office are involved in the ongoing investigation into this incident.
