Maurisha Singletary dies in fatal Washington shooting
Fatal Washington shooting death of Maurisha Singletary
Law enforcement authorities have now released the identity of the individual charged with fatally shooting his intimate companion, only to be subsequently killed by police officers at their residence several days later. According to reports from judicial authorities, the suspect is identified as Marco Alexander Moore, a 45-year-old man facing accusations of premeditated homicide with a weapon.
The identified deceased, Maurisha Singletary, who was 33 years old, was discovered lifeless inside her home located in the 4000 block of Minnesota Avenue. Metropolitan Police Division personnel were initially dispatched to her apartment following a request for assistance from her household members, indicating concerns about her welfare.
Further reports indicate that court records obtained by news organizations reveal Moore was arrested and then released from police oversight approximately one week prior to Ms. Singletary’s death, despite being connected to a previous domestic disturbance incident at her apartment complex.
A relative of the deceased described her strong maternal bonds with her young children. “She was inseparable from her six- and five-year-old daughters,” the family member stated. “Her failure to collect them from school triggered immediate alarm. She had formally accused him of unlawful detention and menacing behavior, leading to his temporary freedom, which tragically culminated in her loss shortly thereafter.”
Prior to the fatal incident, emergency dispatchers received notification of a verbal altercation threat when a third party relayed hearing the suspect declare, “If you don’t provide me with my money by the beginning of the week, I will end your life.” Upon arrival, Singletary stated the dispute was merely verbal, but law enforcement officers subsequently found a witness confirming the threat, prompting them to search for the suspect.
A short time later, the same informant reported the suspect’s return to the building’s leasing office. Law enforcement apprehended Moore without incident. During their search, authorities discovered an illicit substance, identified as cocaine through field testing, prompting charges of controlled substance possession.
Maurisha Singletary’s family has expressed bewilderment regarding the sequence of events leading to her death. “I’m filled with anger and confusion,” a family representative shared. “Yet, a deep emotional burden rests upon me because my young relative would want me to maintain strength during this trying period.”
A memorial balloon release ceremony and a life celebration event have been organized by the family to honor her memory.
