The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the identity of the person who lost their life in Tuesday’s collision on I-39/90. Positioned near McFarland, the accident happened in the Town of Christiana around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon.
According to law enforcement, the incident began when a southbound sports utility vehicle veered off the roadway and crossed into the center divider. The car then overturned multiple times before finally stopping on the northbound lane, resulting in a prolonged closure of the major highway that continued for more than three hours. During this time, four other individuals sustained injuries.
Victor M. Navas Jr., who was 34 years old and lived in Chicago, passed away at the hospital on Tuesday. Officials stated that the initial findings from the forensic examination, finalized on Wednesday, showed that Navas’s death resulted directly from the trauma he received in the accident.
Further analysis was still being conducted as of Friday afternoon.
