In the period leading up to 7 p.m. on October 21st, emergency services and law enforcement were dispatched to the area of northbound Telegraph Road near Denson Drive in Severn. The initial dispatch reported a collision between a person on foot and a sport utility vehicle.
According to the initial assessment by Anne Arundel County Police Western District, the vehicle, identified as a 2022 Ford Bronco, was moving forward in the second lane when Darlene Platt attempted to cross the road from the central median. The driver, a 45-year-old man from Glen Burnie, stated he did not notice Ms. Platt until she was directly in the vehicle’s path. Following the impact, the SUV came to a stop close to where the pedestrian was located.
Fire department personnel arrived at the scene and confirmed Ms. Platt’s passing. The driver, who was uninjured according to official reports, is being investigated by the Anne Arundel County Police Traffic Safety Crash Reconstruction Team. This team is examining the circumstances surrounding the incident.
