Fatal Huntington Beach car crash death of Eric John Williams

Orange County officials announced the identification of the cyclist killed in the hit-and-run incident in Huntington Beach on Tuesday.

The Orange County Coroner’s Office has identified the deceased as 45-year-old Eric John Williams, who was a resident of Garden Grove.

Mr. Williams lost his life following impact with the vehicle. He was hit by a 2006 gold Mercedes E-Class around 7 a.m. Monday near the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Newland Street.

Emergency medical services pronounced Mr. Williams dead at the scene.

Two other cyclists involved in the collision were transported to nearby medical facilities with significant injuries.

The individual responsible for the hit-and-run was identified as 43-year-old Amber Calderon, a resident of Long Beach. According to police reports, Ms. Calderon was apprehended approximately half a mile from the crash location. She was cited for felony hit-and-run charges, a charge related to vehicular manslaughter, and possession of controlled substances upon her eventual stop and subsequent arrest.
