Fatal Lexington County car crash death of George Hall Gomez Jr.
Officials have pinpointed a teenager who passed away Sunday morning in Lexington County. South Carolina Highway Patrol Master Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway detailed the incident, which occurred approximately at 5:25 a.m. on Jim Spence Road near Addie Lucas Road. Ridgeway explained that a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze, traveling south on Jim Spence Road, departed the roadway to the right, collided with a culvert, and then struck a tree.
Coroner Margaret Fisher officially identified the victim as seventeen-year-old George Hall Gomez Jr., who resided in Leesville. Fisher reported that Gomez was transported to a local hospital, where medical personnel confirmed his death. Furthermore, Fisher noted that Gomez was secured within the vehicle, wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
Ridgeway stated the South Carolina Highway Patrol will continue to examine the situation regarding the crash.
