RYAN JULIAN DIES IN FATAL STRATFORD CAR CRASH

The death in a vehicle collision on Nichols Avenue occurred early Saturday morning and has been officially confirmed Monday. A high school graduate and former football player, Ryan Julian, was the person killed. According to a school official.

“The loss of Ryan Julian, set to graduate from Bunnell High School in 2025 and known for his participation in football, deeply saddens Stratford Public Schools,” said Acting School Superintendent Heather M. Borges. “We offer our support and deepest condolences to Ryan’s family, friends, teammates, and the broader community during this incredibly challenging period.”

Support services were made available for students and staff through school-based counseling resources, according to Borges.

A single-car accident took place at approximately 3:35 a.m. on Saturday. The vehicle involved struck a tree located in the 1100 block of Nichols Avenue, as reported by Stratford police Captain Robert Burroughs. Five individuals were inside the car at the time. Their ages ranged from 16 to 24 years old, and they were residents of Stratford and Bridgeport, according to Burroughs. Three of the people in the vehicle suffered minor injuries. One individual was pronounced deceased at the scene, while another person was transported to a hospital with serious injuries.
