According to reports from New Jersey State Police, Albert R. Masonius, a resident of Keyport, was killed when he was hit by an SUV near 4 a.m. in South Brunswick. The incident occurred after the victim had survived an initial collision on the New Jersey Turnpike. Details indicate that Masonius was part of a chain reaction involving five vehicles, where his car collided with a minivan following an impact from another car. This resulted in his vehicle becoming disabled in the center lane of the highway. Despite the early morning mishap, authorities noted that Masonius exited his car, but he was fatally struck shortly after by a passing SUV. Two other drivers in that Honda SUV sustained injuries during the event. The driver of the vehicle responsible for the death has not yet been identified or spoken to by investigators. State troopers did not provide immediate updates on this matter. In addition, the New Jersey State Police commemorated Pedestrian Safety Day on social media following their participation in a National Walk, Bike, and Roll to School Day initiative.
