The state patrol reported the accident began at approximately 5:42 a.m. on that Sunday morning. A semitractor-trailer lost control as it approached a right bend. It initially veered off the road, impacting the central concrete barrier before rolling across into the opposite lane. The large truck subsequently became completely surrounded by flames until it stopped, blocking all directions of traffic for several hours. The highway was officially reopened later that evening.
