Two individuals from Chicago, identified as Diego Nava Torres, 32, and Samantha Ortiz, 33, were deceased following the accident. Local authorities reported the fatality involving the pair occurred during the weekend in North Aurora.
According to reports from the Kane County coroner’s office, the incident happened on Saturday. It took place in the westbound lanes of Interstate 88.
Law enforcement confirmed the identities of those involved. Both victims, originally from Chicago, were named as Diego Nava Torres and Samantha Ortiz.
The coroner’s office has stated details concerning the accident have not been released yet. They also mentioned the reasons for death and the manner of death are still being investigated.
Both deceased persons were transported to the Kane County morgue for further examination. Officials also noted that toxicology samples were gathered for analysis.
