The agency provided updated information, including the identity of the driver involved in the incident that occurred on October 18 at approximately 9 p.m.

Erick Kitchens, who was 52, was in the back seat of the vehicle that was rear-ended. He was transported to Colquitt Regional Medical Center but later passed away due to his injuries.

Larry Nelms, a 62-year-old, is the suspected driver and has been charged with multiple offenses, such as distracted driving, vehicular homicide, following too closely, failure to stay in his lane, causing serious injury, failing to report an accident involving harm or death, and leaving the scene of a crash. The suspect was arrested on October 19 after a tipster alerted authorities to their belief about his involvement.
