Fatal Buffalo car crash death of Heather Cottone
Police officials identified the woman killed in the late night collision on Union Road off Route 33 as Heather Cottone. The Cheektowaga resident was 54 years old at the time of her death.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after 11:30 p.m. on Thursday following reports of a multi-vehicle incident. Cottone was a passenger in one of the automobiles involved in the accident. According to preliminary reports, she was thrown from her vehicle during the impact and received catastrophic injuries that proved fatal. Medical personnel provided aid at the location before the arrival of law enforcement.
Cottone’s vehicle was reported to have collided with another automobile occupied by two teenagers. Both minors were fastened in their seats at the time of the impact. The operator of the second car and the passenger inside were both aged 15. Neither of them sustained injuries in the accident and remained at the scene.
Investigators from the Cheektowaga Police Department are currently examining the cause of the incident. No immediate details regarding the contributing factors have been released.
