The fatality was confirmed by Bannock County Coroner Torey Danner, who reported that the deceased was Randell Case.

According to investigations by the Idaho State Police, the accident transpired on Friday morning, around 2:00 a.m., impacting the northbound side of the highway close to mile marker 70. The law enforcement agency stated that the male driver, identified as Case, was operating a 1997 Mitsubishi 3000 GT in a northern direction when his car unexpectedly left the roadway. He subsequently hit a guardrail barrier, drove over it, and crashed into a support pillar beneath the Monte Vista overpass structure.

Emergency medical services dispatched an ambulance to the scene. Upon arrival at a nearby hospital, medical personnel attended to Case, but despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.

Idaho State Police announced they are pursuing the matter to determine the exact reasons or events that led to this fatal incident.

Coroner Danner conveyed her sympathies, stating her condolences to Randell Case’s relatives and acquaintances during this emotionally challenging period.
