Peoria police are examining the scene following reports that a 71-year-old man died Monday morning after being struck by a car in the city’s North Valley area.
The individual who passed away has been identified as Rudy O. Stuffel, a local resident of Peoria. According to law enforcement, Mr. Stuffel was involved in the collision around 6:50 a.m. at the intersection of Spaulding Avenue and NE Monroe Street.
Mr. Stuffel was confirmed deceased at the scene by the Peoria County Coroner, Jamie Harwood. The medical examiner reported that the deceased suffered significant blunt force trauma and did not survive the impact, passing away instantly.
The operator of the vehicle involved in the incident did not suffer any injuries and is currently assisting the ongoing investigation.
