Fatal Saluda County car crash death of Shirley Fincher.

A 76-year-old woman, Shirley Fincher, has been confirmed dead following a collision on Monday morning in Saluda County. The Saluda County Coroner’s Office confirmed the death.

The incident occurred when a 2005 Honda Accord, traveling westbound on Highway 178, collided with a 2022 Chevrolet Traverse moving eastbound on the same road. Both vehicles that were involved had occupants.

Ms. Fincher, who was a passenger in the Chevrolet Traverse, suffered critical injuries as a result of the accident. She was pronounced deceased at the accident site. The driver of the Traverse suffered non-fatal injuries and was transported to a local medical facility. The occupants of the Honda Accord also experienced injuries, though they were not life-threatening, and were treated at nearby hospitals.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Saluda County Coroner’s Office are currently investigating the cause of this collision.
