A young woman, Sydney Grace Griffith, has been confirmed as the individual who lost her life in a collision that happened on Illinois Road in Fort Wayne on Friday morning. The incident occurred during the early hours, bringing a somber end to another life. Griffith, who was just 22 years old, was pronounced deceased at the hospital after being taken there following the accident.
Investigators from the Allen County Sheriff’s Office reported that emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene at the intersection involving Illinois Road and Sutton Avenue shortly after 4:45 a.m. Upon their arrival, they observed significant damage to a passenger vehicle at the front, specifically a sedan, along with a stopped commercial truck nearby. According to the Fort Wayne Police Department, the 22-year-old was transported to a local medical facility but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries later that day.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office has officially stated that the cause of death was blunt force trauma, resulting from the impact of the crash. This tragic event marks the 36th traffic-related fatality in Allen County this year, highlighting the ongoing concern for road safety in the region.
