Fatal Richmond Va. shooting death of Kwaivon Dejesus

A 36-year-old Richmond man named Kwaivon Dejesus was killed by gunshot wound Wednesday afternoon.

Police reports indicate officers were dispatched to Fifth Baptist Church around 4:30 p.m. on October 29th due to a shooting. The church is located on West Cary Street.

Upon arrival, officers found Dejesus in the church’s parking lot suffering from a gunshot injury. Emergency medical services were immediately called to the scene.

Dejesus was transported to a nearby hospital. Despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead later at the facility.

According to information from sources close to the investigation, the fatal shooting occurred after an argument between the victim and someone else.

Richmond Police confirmed an altercation took place between Dejesus and another unidentified individual. The department stated this is under review as a homicide case.
