According to reports received from the local coroner’s office, a man lost his life when struck by a motor vehicle this past Wednesday morning.
The individual identified as Michael Jarvis Dion Henderson, aged 34 and residing in Bessemer, was ambulating along the 3600 block of Lakeshore Parkway sometime after 4:30 a.m. when the incident occurred.
Preliminary information indicates the operator of the striking vehicle contacted law enforcement authorities and elected to remain at the scene until their arrival.
The Birmingham Police Department has initiated an investigation into the sequence of events leading to this fatal collision.
