Fatal Langley murder death of Chantelle Moore

A 31-year-old man from Port Moody is facing charges of second-degree murder and desecration of human remains, directly linked to the case involving Chantelle Moore’s disappearance. This legal action stems from a thorough probe by the Lower Mainland’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, who confirmed the arrest of Trenton Henneberg on these grave accusations.

Henneberg was taken into custody on the charges last Friday, with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team releasing an official statement on the matter. Police have indicated that he is still held, and authorities maintain a belief that Henneberg and Moore were familiar with each other, ruling out the possibility that this was a random incident.

The search for the 30-year-old Moore began after her family reported her as missing on November 18, 2024, citing a prolonged absence from any contact. According to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team’s release, investigators from the Surrey and Langley RCMP units concluded that Moore was last seen at a hotel in Langley and had no further communication from anyone since the late part of October.

Transitioning the case in December 2024, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team alerted the public to the likelihood that her disappearance was not accidental. By collaborating with the Langley RCMP Serious Crime Unit and Integrated Forensic Identification Services, investigators built a detailed chronology of events preceding Moore’s vanishing. This timeline facilitated searches across various sites throughout the province in an attempt to recover her body.

Although the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has not disclosed the specific location or timing of Moore’s discovery, they stated that sufficient evidence met the requirements for murder prosecution. Reflecting on the extensive effort, Sgt. Freda Fong shared, “This is the kind of investigation that keeps us up at night. I am so proud of the unwavering dedication and tremendous investigative efforts of our team. While the laying of charges is a significant milestone, there is still a lot of work ahead as the prosecution process begins. It has been an extremely difficult time for Chantelle’s parents, and we continue to offer them support throughout the court proceedings.”
