Fatal Denver car crash death of full name of deceased victim Garrett Bimler

Identified authorities reported the fatality of one person following a vehicle collision. The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner confirmed the identity of the deceased as 26-year-old Garrett Bimler on Friday. It was determined that his death resulted from multiple blunt force injuries, and the official classification was an accident.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:18 a.m. on Sunday morning near 16th Street and Market Street. Law enforcement took custody of the suspected driver around 2 hours 48 minutes later in the Wazee Street area between 1700 and 1799 blocks.

Information gathered by news outlets indicates the driver was initially observed exiting a parking structure located in the Market Street vicinity, specifically the 1500 block. Operating a red truck, he reportedly drove through the automated gate of the parking garage. Subsequent reports describe the driver heading towards 16th Street. Eyewitness accounts suggest he hit a vehicle that tried to dodge the path. Following this impact, police statements claim the driver veered to the right, climbed the curb, and contacted a nearby sign. This sign subsequently fell onto Bimler.

The victim, Bimler, was pronounced dead immediately at the scene.

A person who observed the events informed investigators that they saw the driver depart the vehicle and leave the area after the collision. This witness recognized the individual as the person behind the wheel, identified as McBride.

McBride was arrested. When officers searched him, they discovered a bag containing a substance described as “a white powdery substance suspected to be cocaine” inside his pocket. Initially, he declined to undergo required chemical testing, but he was transported to the Denver Health Medical Center for treatment. A blood sample was taken for laboratory examination. These test results were reported as still pending at the relevant stage.

Police records indicate that McBride had outstanding legal orders from El Paso County and his driver’s license was in a suspended status at the time of the incident. While at the medical center, authorities noted he was placed under an “investigative hold” for potential scrutiny.

Further legal documents secured by news sources state that this hold was implemented pending the results of an investigation into vehicular homicide.
