Officials from Lake County Coroner have confirmed the identity of a man who passed away following an incident where a Metra train collided with a vehicle in Hainesville on Thursday. Lake and McHenry County Scanner photographer Woo-Sung Shim captured the scene.
VendeBerg reported that the Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District provided assistance at the scene, with support from the Grayslake Police Department, Metra Police Department, and Round Lake Beach Police Department present during the event.
According to a statement released Thursday, Newton indicated that the deceased, an unidentified man in his early 50s, was taken from the crash location to Condell Medical Center’s emergency room, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Reilly, representing Metra, announced on Friday that several hours were required to stop Metra trains on the Milwaukee District North line between Grayslake and Fox Lake, facilitating an investigation by Metra Police.
The ongoing probe into this fatal accident continues.
