Ronni Nykole Abbott dies in fatal Macon car crash
Fatal Macon car crash death of Ronni Nykole Abbott
According to sources from Macon Regional Crimestoppers, federal law enforcement agents were actively seeking an individual suspected of causing a fatal collision that resulted in the death of a person whose remains were discovered several months prior in Macon.
Sergeant Greg Thomas, a representative from The Telegraph, revealed that Carmelo Aamir Johnson, who is 21 years old, was identified as the operator of the vehicle involved in the incident. This vehicle reportedly collided with 23-year-old Ronni Nykole Abbott on Rocky Creek Road. Thomas provided this information on Friday.
It was reported that Ms. Abbott was listed as missing just one day before the investigation team located her lifeless body on August 28. The body was found in a forested area adjacent to the road. The official cause of death, as determined by Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones, was blunt force trauma to the head, which occurred during the crash.
Crimestoppers indicated that Johnson is being pursued by the U.S. Marshals Service on charges, including but not limited to eluding responsibility at the scene (hit-and-run) and causing death through vehicle operation (vehicular homicide).
Court records from Macon Judicial Court indicate that Johnson had faced legal consequences previously. In 2023, he was found guilty of two felony counts related to theft, specifically for taking an SUV and its accompanying keys from Stratford Academy. Following this conviction, he subsequently failed to adhere to the terms of his probation.
