Fatal Murfreesboro shooting death of Dequesia J. Parker

The Hertford County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that a man passed away as a result of gunfire during a Saturday event in Murfreesboro, North Carolina. The incident occurred during a Halloween party.

Emergency dispatchers were alerted just prior to 3 a.m. on Saturday. As personnel traveled to the location on Buena Vista Road in Murfreesboro, they reported encountering a vehicle being driven at an excessive speed. Law enforcement officers pursued this vehicle, which eventually crossed into Conway, North Carolina. Two individuals involved fled on foot, and one was subsequently arrested on charges related to evading, delaying, and obstructing police officers.

Initial inquiries indicate that the fatal shooting originated from a disagreement between two people. This argument reportedly became violent, culminating in Dequesia J. Parker being shot. Parker was taken to a hospital called ECU Health Vidant for medical treatment but unfortunately did not survive the serious injuries he sustained.
