A candlelit ceremony was held on Saturday evening in the South Bay area to honor 15-year-old Kane Roldan, who lost his life during a shooting at a Halloween gathering in Chula Vista on Friday evening. According to reports, another 17-year-old also did not survive this incident.
Law enforcement authorities did not release the identities of the victims, however, family members recognized 15-year-old Kane Roldan among those whose lives were tragically ended. Roldan’s friends and family gathered for a candlelight tribute on Saturday night to express their grief over his passing.
The memorial event took place on a basketball court that Roldan cherished.

His foster mother, Georgina Martinez, shared her final conversation with the young man, who attended Montgomery High School. She quoted his words: “‘Hey Mom, do you have some money so I can take money to this party,’” she recalled him saying before she gave her permission and reminded him to be cautious and safe.
The Chula Vista Police Department informed that deputies were dispatched following a report of a shooting around 11 p.m. on Friday near a residence at East Prospect Street. Police officials stated that arguments escalated into gunfire. Upon arrival, officers reportedly discovered two teenagers injured by bullets. Medical personnel provided emergency care, but sadly, both adolescents later succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.
Martinez expressed her desire for justice, stating, “We know that someone out there knows who did this, and all we want is justice for him.” “We want to be able to lay him to rest and know that the person who did this had consequences for their actions,” she expressed.
