The fatal Newhall shooting death of Harts occurred on Halloween night.
Deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to the 25000 block of De Wolfe Road in Newhall following reports of a violent encounter involving firearms and a wounded individual.
Upon their arrival, law enforcement discovered two males suffering injuries consistent with being shot in the upper chest area, as confirmed by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Division.
Harts, who was identified shortly after the incident, was pronounced deceased at the location by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The second individual involved was a 27-year-old man of Hispanic descent. He received medical attention at a nearby hospital, where his condition was reported as critical as of Saturday night.
Investigators are examining the possibility that the shooting originated from an altercation at a nearby Halloween gathering. They reported that two male suspects fled the scene in an unspecified direction.
