Fatal Riviera Beach car crash death of Lindy Douglas
Riviera Beach authorities have released the names of the individuals involved in a Saturday afternoon collision which resulted in one teenager’s death and left another injured.
Riviera Beach Police confirmed the incident occurred on West Blue Heron Boulevard in the 600 block, shortly before 3 p.m. on Saturday. A caller alerted emergency services to the accident.
Police indicate that 16-year-old Lindy Douglas from Riviera Beach was operating a mini-motorcycle, carrying a 17-year-old passenger, Joell Banks from Loxahatchee, moving eastbound on Blue Heron Boulevard. According to reports, the motorcycle unexpectedly crossed into oncoming traffic and was subsequently hit by a Nissan Sentra. The driver of the Sentra was reportedly speeding.
Both adolescents were taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center. Tragically, Lindy Douglas passed away later that same Saturday afternoon. Her passenger, Joell Banks, sustained only minor injuries.
Both individuals were not wearing helmets, and the motorcycle was not equipped for road use, as noted by law enforcement.
The ongoing investigation suggests the Sentra driver, who was uninjured and stayed at the scene, currently faces no charges.
