Fatal Laurens County drowning death of Stevie Charles Williams
The Laurens County Coroner’s Office initiated an inquiry after remains were discovered afloat in Lake Greenwood on Friday.
Coroner Patti Canupp indicated her office received a report concerning the discovery following its response to Lake Greenwood in Waterloo.
Upon arrival, SCDNR officers utilized their boat to recover the remains, transporting them to the shore.
The Laurens County Coroner’s Officer identified the deceased as Stevie Charles Williams, aged 55, from Greenwood. Identification was confirmed through fingerprint analysis.
The American Red Cross will provide notification to the victim’s son, who is currently stationed in Germany with the military.
Further details regarding the death are pending autopsy results from the coroner’s office.
