Kansas City, Kansas authorities identified the female victim who died in a fatal shooting early Saturday and arrested an individual of interest. Police personnel from the Kansas City, Kansas Police Division were dispatched to the 700 block of North 11th Street around 4:30 a.m. on Saturday following reports of a shooting incident, as previously reported by department spokesperson Officer T.J. Tomasic.
Upon their arrival at the scene, responding officers found the 20-year-old Ana Juarez outside a building with a serious injury caused by gunfire, according to a statement released by KCKPD’s public information officer Nancy Chartrand. Juarez was then taken to a regional medical facility where she unfortunately passed away due to her wounds, as confirmed by Tomasic.
A person considered a suspect is currently being held by law enforcement, Chartrand reported on Monday. The identity of the suspect has not been disclosed, and the circumstances leading to the shooting remain under investigation. Juarez’s 21st birthday was approaching, falling on November 4th.
The Star newspaper’s data indicates that Juarez’s death represents the 19th homicide in Kansas City, Kansas during the year 2025, which is fewer than the 21 homicides recorded at the same point in 2024, including those involving fatal actions by police officers.
