Chester Township authorities reported responding to a fatal motor vehicle accident on August 31, involving a Brooklyn, New York woman charged with vehicular homicide. Ana-Maria Ciofu, 26, faced second-degree vehicular homicide and disorderly persons assault by auto charges, announced by Morris County Prosecutor Robert Carroll, Chief of Detectives Robert McNally, and Chester Police Chief Ryan McNamee.
Arriving at the intersection of Route 206, Lamerson Road, and Fox Chase Road around 5:51 p.m. on that date, police encountered the scene of the collision. According to law enforcement, Ciofu was operating a 2025 Lexus IS300 along the northbound section of Route 206 when she collided with a 2013 Toyota RAV4. Prosecutors allege Ciofu was driving at an unsafe, excessive speed at the time of the collision.
