Fatal Williamsport shooting death of Brailynn Johnson

The Lycoming County Coroner’s office officially confirmed that fifteen-year-old Brailynn Johnson, a resident of Center Street in Williamsport, is the person who died as a result of the deadly shooting that occurred over the weekend. This identification was announced by the office through a news release issued on Tuesday.

According to the official statement from the Coroner’s office and the Williamsport Police Department, they are currently examining the tragic incident that led to Brailynn Johnson’s death. Reports indicate that the fatal shot was fired at the intersection of Park Place and First Avenue. Following the shooting, emergency responders brought the injured teenager to UPMC Susquehanna Williamsport Hospital, where he was immediately taken to surgery. However, despite the urgent medical intervention, the loss of blood stemming from the wound proved fatal. The hospital procedures ultimately could not save his life.

The preliminary autopsy examination was carried out at the Forensic Pathology Associates facility located in Allentown later that day. The results from this investigation determined that the cause of Mr. Johnson’s death was definitively a single bullet wound to his abdomen. Additionally, the official ruling concluded that the method of his death involved unlawful killing, or homicide.
