The Chula Vista Police Department announced the apprehension of a suspect connected to two teenage fatalities at a Halloween gathering. David Garcia, an 18-year-old from National City, was arrested on Monday.

Garcia was taken into custody at the county jail. These charges stem from the tragic incident where two teenagers lost their lives during a late-night Halloween celebration. The party took place on Friday evening, ending around 11:15 p.m. at a residence on East Prospect Street situated near Judson Way.

According to an official statement from the Chula Vista Police Department issued on November 1st, an altercation erupted at the Halloween party, ultimately triggering gunfire. Upon their arrival, law enforcement personnel discovered two minors, aged 15 and 17, injured by gunshot wounds. Both were transported to UCSD Medical Center, but despite medical resuscitation attempts, they were confirmed deceased.

Further updates provided on Monday identified the two victims as Elias Yanez, who was 17 years old and from Imperial Beach, and Kane Roldan, who was 15 years old and from San Diego.

The Chula Vista Police Department highlighted that this arrest was the outcome of comprehensive detective work, significantly aided by information from San Diego County Crime Stoppers.

Current authorities indicate they do not believe any other suspects are at large, but the ongoing investigation remains active. Additional arrests could occur as more information comes to light.

The Sweetwater Union High School District expressed solidarity in a statement, conveying their heartfelt sympathies to those impacted by the weekend’s tragedy. They emphasized their support for all affected students, families, and staff members.

The district confirmed plans to offer crisis counseling services to those affected and assured cooperation with the ongoing law enforcement probe.

The investigation continues to appeal to anyone possessing relevant information, photographs, or videos to come forward. Witnesses who have not yet spoken with the authorities are encouraged to reach out to San Diego Crime Stoppers via phone at (888) 580-8477 or through online and mobile applications for anonymous reporting.
