Halifax law enforcement officials have confirmed the identity of the person killed after a deadly shooting occurred in the North Preston area. Authorities are actively seeking public assistance for the ongoing investigation.

Members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), specifically those from the Halifax detachment, received a dispatch shortly before 5 a.m. on Sunday. The alert reported gunfire in the vicinity of Cain and Clarence streets.

Upon their arrival at the scene, police found Jayden Tynes, who was 28 years old, suffering from injuries caused by bullets. Emergency air medical services, EHS, were immediately called to transport Tynes to a hospital. Despite receiving medical care, the injured individual eventually passed away due to his injuries. This confirmation was stated by the RCMP on Monday.

The integrated major crime unit, combining resources from both the RCMP and the Halifax Regional Police, is currently in charge of the investigation. Investigators are requesting information or surveillance footage from dashcam operators who were present in the area between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. on that Sunday.
