Fatal Woonsocket shooting deaths of three victims

Fatal Woonsocket shooting involving three individuals

Woonsocket police have officially identified the three victims who lost their lives in a shooting that occurred on Monday evening. The incident took place at 411 Rathbun Street.

Police dispatches were activated following reports of gunfire around 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Upon arrival, responding officers discovered three individuals who had sustained gunshot injuries inside the apartment building.

The identified victims are Kimberly Pieranuzi, aged 40; Donald Roderick Jr., aged 45; and Sean Rivera, aged 24. Medical examiners confirmed that all three succumbed to their wounds.

Official reports indicate the apartment was home to Pieranuzi, her partner Donald Roderick Jr., Pieranuzi’s 19-year-old daughter, and Sean Rivera. According to the investigation, tensions between Rivera and the 19-year-old daughter escalated when they discussed their relationship difficulties.

During this confrontation, Rivera allegedly retrieved a weapon and made inappropriate sexual demands. The 19-year-old subsequently informed her mother, Kimberly Pieranuzi, of the situation.

The 19-year-old daughter managed to escape the premises and reached out to authorities from a nearby business, alerting police to the incident.

Investigators revealed that Donald Roderick Jr. returned home to the apartment during the incident. At some point, Sean Rivera discharged the firearm, resulting in injuries to Roderick Jr. Tragically, Rivera later directed the weapon towards himself, leading to his own death.

Further investigation confirmed that the weapon used in this tragic incident had been reported stolen from Maine authorities.

Woonsocket Police Department released a statement indicating, “This incident was specific to the residents of the apartment and there was no active threat to the public.”
