Fatal Woonsocket shooting death of Kimberly Pieranunzi
The Woonsocket law enforcement agency has confirmed three people were killed in a tragic incident involving murder and suicide on November 3rd. The victims are three individuals: a 40-year-old named Kimberly Pieranunzi, a 45-year-old Donald Roderick Jr., and a 24-year-old Sean Rivera.
Official reports indicate that Kimberly Pieranunzi resided in a Rathbun Street apartment. According to the police findings, she shared this living space with her 45-year-old boyfriend, Donald Roderick Jr., her 19-year-old daughter, and the daughter’s partner, Sean Rivera, who was 24 at the time.
The sequence of events began on the night of the incident. Police statements suggest there was an argument between Sean and his girlfriend, the 19-year-old daughter of Kimberly Pieranunzi. During this altercation, Sean Rivera reportedly retrieved a weapon and made explicit sexual demands.
The 19-year-old daughter informed the authorities that Sean did not comply with his demand and proceeded to sexually assault her against her will. Following this alleged assault, the young woman managed to flee to her mother’s bedroom. Tragically, Sean Rivera followed her and opened fire, wounding Kimberly Pieranunzi multiple times.
The 19-year-old daughter managed to escape the apartment building and sought help from law enforcement by contacting the police from within a nearby commercial establishment. While she was safely inside, Donald Roderick Jr., who had just returned home from his workday, was reportedly shot by Sean Rivera.
After the shooting of Donald Roderick Jr., Sean Rivera allegedly turned his weapon towards himself and took his own life. Upon receiving the emergency call, the Woonsocket police team arrived at the scene. During the investigation, they secured a firearm from Sean Rivera’s possession. Further examination revealed this weapon was stolen property originating from Maine.
The investigating officers from Woonsocket stated that the shooting incident was confined to the residents of the apartment complex and they concluded there was no active threat posed to the general public.
