Fatal Hamden car crash death of Shareef Johnson, 34, of Meriden
Police are investigating a fatal collision on Sunday afternoon in Hamden. Around 4:38 p.m., emergency responders were dispatched to Mix Avenue near the Broadmoore Apartments following reports of an accident involving a scooter. Upon arrival, crews discovered the scooter driver with severe injuries requiring immediate medical attention. Despite being taken to a hospital, the extent of the injuries proved fatal.
Officials have confirmed the identity of the deceased as Shareef Johnson, who was 34 years old. According to the ongoing investigation, Johnson was traveling south on Mix Avenue when a car exiting the Broadmoore Apartments complex swerved and struck the scooter. After the collision, the car driver stopped briefly before fleeing the scene northward. The suspect’s vehicle has since been located.
