Fatal Clay County car crash death of William Waggoner, Jr.
The Clay County Coroner’s Office has officially identified the individual who died following a fatal collision with a deer as William Waggoner, Jr. Mr. Waggoner, who was 55 years old, was located east of CR 200 East on Highway 46 on October 30 and confirmed deceased later that same day.
Initial responders discovered Mr. Waggoner in an unresponsive state. Officials from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office investigated the incident and determined that the crash was caused by a deer entering the vehicle through its windshield. The Coroner’s Office has indicated that the probable cause, mechanism, and manner of death are still under investigation.
