Carolina Guzman Sierra succumbed to injuries suffered in a two-vehicle accident on Lakeville Highway. This fatal auto collision also resulted in hospitalizations for the drivers involved.
Carolina Guzman Sierra, a 46-year-old resident of Vallejo, was a passenger inside a northbound Honda HR-V at the time of the incident. The accident happened at dawn on October 26th, near the intersection with Old Lakeville Road No. 3, located south of Petaluma.
California Highway Patrol reports indicated the southbound Ford Mustang driver disregarded safety by crossing into oncoming traffic to overtake a Toyota Highlander. This action led to a head-on collision with the Honda. The Toyota was subsequently impacted on its left side, causing it to lose control and depart the road.
Ms. Guzman was pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency responders. Her identity was subsequently confirmed by the Sonoma County Coroner’s Office.
The driver of the Honda suffered significant injuries and was transported to Providence Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. Law enforcement anticipates notification regarding the driver’s condition unless complications arise, which typically prompts updates.
The driver of the Ford Mustang, Jesus Garcia, aged 24 from Vallejo, also incurred serious injuries requiring hospitalization. CHP officers observed indications of intoxication and arrested Garcia on suspicion of a felony DUI involving both alcohol and drugs, along with vehicular manslaughter charges. As of Monday, Garcia remained under medical observation. Upon his discharge, he is scheduled to be processed at the Sonoma County jail.
