Local authorities reported that two separate emergency calls were received shortly after 12:30 AM on Monday, November 3rd. These calls indicated a serious fire situation at a residence located on George Street in North Haven.

The second person to dial for help reported hearing a child was unable to safely exit the upper level of the building. Fire department personnel arrived at the scene very quickly, within minutes of the first dispatch.

Upon arrival, emergency responders observed intense flames engulfing both the ground floor and the first floor of the house. According to fire department records, Aurelian Kamp, a 8-year-old girl, was rescued from inside the structure but tragically succumbed to her injuries. The cause of her demise was smoke inhalation and burns suffered during the blaze.

Tragically, John Morris, a 72-year-old male, was also pronounced dead at the scene once the firefighters arrived. He was found lifeless inside the burning home.

Despite the devastating fire, two other adults and two minors who were residents of the house managed to evacuate safely before the intense flames took hold.

First Selectman Michael Freda also expressed his profound sorrow for the impacted families, sharing his condolences through the fire department’s official channels.
