Fatal Carrollton shooting death of Lareon Laymon Brown
A sorrowful incident unfolded in Carrollton, Georgia, claiming the life of 26-year-old Lareon Laymon Brown, identified locally as Lay Lay. Police reports indicate the fatal shooting occurred early Sunday morning, around 1:30 a.m., following an altercation that spiraled into gunfire.
Lareon Laymon Brown was the proud mother of three children. Family members remember her as possessing a wonderful smile, being bright-minded, and deeply cherished by her offspring.
Lay Lay’s sister, Netorian Crawford, paid tribute, highlighting her family’s central role. “She was the foundation for her family,” Crawford shared. “Her presence made everyone smile. She brought happiness, positivity, and a genuine, grounded spirit.”
Tragically, Brown’s demise transpired mere hours after her daughter Zynova’s birthday celebration involving the entire family.
According to Crawford, the absence of answers now weighs heavily on Brown’s mother. “Her momma is left with three kids to raise and no answers,” she expressed profound sorrow.
The unfortunate shooting resulted in not only Brown’s death but also injuries to two others. Among the wounded was Brown’s cousin, Kathy Cheeks. A fragment of a bullet remains embedded in Cheeks’ leg.
Cheeks recounted the terrifying moments, stating, “I heard her saying somebody’s name over and over again, and I was running. I didn’t manage to look back.” Her immediate focus was escaping the scene, leaving the perpetrator unidentified at the time of the shooting.
Carrollton law enforcement have apprehended three individuals suspected of involvement in the triple shooting. The suspects include Jamine Hutchinson (31), Zontavious Vaughn (26), and Cyntez Worthy (23). They face serious charges: felony murder, aggravated assault, and illegal firearm possession stemming from the incident.
In response to the devastating loss, Lareon Laymon Brown’s family has initiated a GoFundMe campaign to gather financial assistance for the funeral expenses.
