Fatal SOMERSET COUNTY car crash death of Michael FOOR
State police investigators have officially identified the individual killed Tuesday morning in the multi-vehicle collision occurring in Allegheny Township, Somerset County.
Michael Foor, who was 51 years old and from New Baltimore, lost his life when the motor vehicle he was in was impacted by another car near the intersection of Route 31 (also known as Wambaugh Hollow Road). According to the Pennsylvania State Police crash report, Foor and a man from Berlin who was 72 years old were trying to turn onto Route 31 at approximately 5:45 a.m. It is alleged that a driver of a different vehicle struck their rear. The resulting impact caused their car to be pushed into the eastbound lane, where it was subsequently hit by a third vehicle. Emergency medical services pronounced Foor deceased at the scene. The 72-year-old driver from Berlin was transported to Conemaugh General Hospital with injuries described as possibly moderate to severe.
Two other drivers involved in the incident sustained minor injuries and declined medical transport. Police noted that seatbelts were not worn by any of the drivers at the time of the accident. The Somerset County State Police department is continuing its investigation to determine the factors leading to the initial rear-end collision and the subsequent fatality. The intersection of Dividing Ridge Road and Wambaugh Hollow Road/Glades Pike remained closed for more than an hour due to the crash.
