Family and friends are grieving the loss of a woman who died after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run in Eagle Rock over the weekend. According to local police reports, Perry was walking across the street within a designated crosswalk on Sunday at the intersection of Colorado Boulevard and the 2 Freeway.

A memorial gathering for Perry was held at the scene on Tuesday evening. Perry’s mother, Mary Smith, shared that her daughter was deeply committed to her three children and her duties as a public transportation operator for Metro.

“She was loved by everyone,” said Smith. “Numerous people approached me, including many Metro staff members, and they expressed how much they admired her daughter, calling her a truly kind-hearted person.”

In response to Perry’s passing, an online fundraising campaign has been launched to assist her family with expenses. Separately, Metro officials released a statement expressing their condolences and offering grief counseling services to Perry’s colleagues.

The search for the individual responsible for the hit-and-run collision, which resulted in Perry’s death, continues.
