Kentucky State Police report a man was killed after being hit by a Christian County sheriff deputy while the deputy was on a routine call. The fatal event occurred Wednesday evening at approximately 7:15 p.m. near the 4500 block of Highway 41.
According to the investigation, the deputy was operating a marked police cruiser and transporting himself to a service call when he collided with a pedestrian on the road. The individual struck proved to be 40-year-old Brandon Higgins, a resident of Hopkinsville. Medical personnel pronounced the man deceased at the scene of the incident.
The involved deputy has chosen not to release his identity through official news channels. State police continue their examination into this occurrence and have not yet provided further updates about the situation.
