Fatal Glastonbury car crash death of Dillon Dupuis

A local teenager has passed away almost two weeks after sustaining serious injuries from a collision involving three vehicles on a Glastonbury road. The incident occurred on Route 94, locally recognized as Hebron Avenue.

Glastonbury High School officials confirmed that the deceased student, identified as 15-year-old Dillon Dupuis, was among those hurt in the accident that took place on the evening of October 24th. He was a sophomore student at the high school.

According to school administrators, Dillon Dupuis was an active member of the school community. He participated in activities such as the rowing team, the music program, and the fire department cadet program. Principal Nancy Bean expressed deep sorrow over his death.

The principal shared a message with the school community, stating, “We are profoundly saddened to inform everyone that Dillon Dupuis, one of our students, has unfortunately passed away following injuries he received in a traffic mishap earlier in the week.” She continued, “Dillon was a valued part of our school family, involved in several activities including the crew team, band, and the Glastonbury Fire Cadets.”

A memorial fundraising campaign on a popular online platform reportedly surpassed the $53,000 mark by Thursday. Supporters highlighted his musical talents and described him as a genuinely kind-hearted individual who possessed a vibrant spirit and loved spending quality time with friends, often sharing his infectious laughter.

Investigators with the Glastonbury police reported that emergency responders provided care to everyone involved in the crash. Fire department personnel carefully removed the two injured individuals from their vehicles before transporting them to a medical facility for treatment.

Lt. Kevin Szydlo explained the preliminary findings of the accident investigation. He stated that the initial incident occurred when a driver lost control of their vehicle while navigating a curve on the roadway. This driver then collided with an approaching vehicle traveling in the opposite direction and was subsequently involved in a second collision with another eastbound car.

While authorities confirmed Dillon Dupuis was a passenger in one of the vehicles, they did not specify which car he was occupying at the time of the accident.

School leaders informed families about the availability of counseling and psychological support for those affected by this tragedy. Principal Bean emphasized, “The loss of a student significantly impacts our entire school community.” She urged anyone needing assistance to utilize the support services provided by the school.

“Please do not hesitate to contact our support staff,” the principal advised parents and guardians.
