Gene Tomcho Dies in Fatal Strongsville Shooting

Gene Tomcho, a 74-year-old from North Ridgeville, died in a fatal Strongsville shooting.

Strongsville Police announced Wednesday that the suspect involved in a shooting last Friday has passed away. The suspect, 74-year-old Gene Tomcho from North Ridgeville, died as a result of the incident.

According to police reports, officers arrived at a residence on Rock Creek Circle at 8:06 p.m. on October 31st following a shooting report. Upon their arrival, they discovered a 49-year-old woman with multiple gunshot wounds. At the scene was Gene Tomcho, who was also holding a handgun.

Police confirmed that Tomcho fired the weapon after being ordered by officers to drop it. Both individuals involved in the incident received medical attention and were transported to hospitals.

The woman, later identified by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office as Gina Guyer, unfortunately succumbed to her injuries. Police also confirmed that the woman was Tomcho’s daughter, Gina Guyer.

Following his initial transport to Southwest Hospital, Gene Tomcho was airlifted to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland via Lifeflight. He passed away there on November 4th.

Prior to his death, legal charges were pending against Tomcho. These charges included felonious assault and murder.

Strongsville police previously clarified that the incident was not a random act of violence, but rather a domestic situation involving family members.
