Fatal Highland car crash death of Theodore McSwine
Law enforcement in Highland responded to a serious incident on U.S. 41/Indianapolis Boulevard at 4:39 a.m. Wednesday after being alerted to a vehicle accident. Dispatch reports indicated a 2021 model Jeep had left the road and entered an adjacent area. Upon arrival, police discovered the car had departed the roadway for unexplained reasons, then turned into an unoccupied parcel, colliding with a tree. According to authorities, the vehicle rolled multiple times following the collision. The driver, identified as Theodore McSwine, a 47-year-old resident of Highland, did not survive the accident. Further examination was set in motion when the Lake County Coroner’s office performed an autopsy later that day.
