The preliminary details regarding the incident suggest that John Wesley Lowary, the driver of a 2017 Toyota Rav 4, was operating his vehicle on US Highway 12 at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 29. His car entered a ditch located five miles west of Webster and subsequently collided with a power line pole, according to the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
Lowary was transported to an Aberdeen hospital on that Wednesday after sustaining serious, life-threatening injuries. He unfortunately succumbed to his injuries at the hospital on the following Sunday, November 2. It was noted that Lowary was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is currently conducting an investigation into the cause of the accident. The available information released is considered preliminary.
