Fatal Lexington County car crash death of Kai Lin Earl Maroney – Obituary

Officials have confirmed the identity of a man who lost his life in a late-night vehicle crash in Lexington County over the weekend.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 11:30 p.m. Saturday on Fairview Road near North Edisto Road, just south of the Batesburg-Leesville area. A 2022 Toyota Tacoma traveling eastbound reportedly left the roadway on the left side before striking an embankment and then a tree.

The driver, who was alone in the truck, was pronounced dead at the scene. Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher identified the victim as 44-year-old Kai Lin Earl Maroney of the Leesville area. Fisher noted that Maroney was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
