Authorities have confirmed the identities of the two young men who lost their lives in a deadly crash that occurred in Central Massachusetts early the morning after Christmas. The victims were named as Connor Post, age 20, from Gardner, and Michael Publicover, age 19, from Winchendon.
Police said both Connor Post and Michael Publicover were riding as passengers in a vehicle traveling along Hubbardston Road, also known as Route 62, near the intersection with Cummings Road in the town of Barre. The collision happened at approximately 4 a.m. on December 26.
Emergency responders arrived to find the vehicle severely damaged. Connor Post and Michael Publicover were pronounced dead as a result of injuries sustained in the crash, according to the Barre Police Department.

The impact forced authorities to shut down a portion of Route 62 between Walnut Hill Road and Cummings Road for more than three hours while crews worked at the scene and investigators documented evidence. Police indicated that excessive speed is believed to have contributed to the crash.
